Leonardo Reyna has long awaited the opportunity to create this album, which brings together his two greatest musical influences: classical music and early Cuban compositions.
The album was recorded on a Steinway at the Logenhaus in Berlin, as part of a concert series organized by Cornelius Gerhard, who selected Leonardo to perform an evening of music, including pieces from the island’s repertoire.

In his program, Leonardo didn’t follow the usual path. He invited legendary Rumbero Arturo Martínez to collaborate, both singing and playing in his compositions. Additionally, he incorporated three Bata drums into Ernesto Lecuona’s Afro-Cuban Dances—an experiment first introduced in Cuba by his mother, pianist Alejandrina Reyna.

This album captures the complete and unedited evening performance, marking his farewell to Berlin before moving to Amsterdam. With this recording, Leonardo Reyna, the last Cuban pianist to be awarded at the Ignacio Cervantes International Piano Competition, releases his debut classical album.
